Steps in a multi-step process are identified and convey their number or structure.

Except when

  • The total number of steps is unknown or the sequence of steps depends on user input.

Ensure that steps are identified and convey number or structure

Procedure

For each multi-step process:

  1. Determine whether the interaction consists of multiple sequential steps
  2. Verify that the multi-step process is indicated in every step
  3. Verify that this identification is perceivable by users
  4. Verify that the way steps are identified conveys either:
    • the total number of steps, or
    • the structure of the process (e.g., sequence or grouping)

Expected results
