Multi-step process review

Assertion

[Title, role, or organization] asserts that:

  • A complete list of steps in a multi-step process, or another representation that provides equivalent understanding of the process structure, is provided when appropriate to support user understanding and orientation within the process.

Information that needs to be included publicly:

  • Title, role, or organization making the assertion
  • Date of assertion
  • Date(s) of evaluation of the multi-step process representation

Recommended internal documentation (Informative):

  • Criteria used to determine when a full step list is appropriate or not
  • Description of how the full list of steps is represented (e.g., list, stepper, …)
  • Mapping of UI representation to actual process steps
  • Rationale for cases where a full list is not provided
  • Usability considerations related to cognitive load and process complexity
  • Evidence of alternative representations used when full listing is not applied
